Arnaldo Carreira-Rosario is a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University in Tom Clandinin’s lab and is co-mentored by Chris Doe. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Biotechnology from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez, and his PhD at UTSouthwestern in Michael Buszczak’s lab. His doctoral work focused on the role of RNA-binding proteins during Drosophila germline development. Dr. Carreira-Rosario is fascinated by how innate behaviors arise at the circuit level during development. During this period, neural circuits undergo spontaneous network activity to finalize circuit formation. His BRAIN Initiative K99 project combines genetics, live imaging, and behavioral assays to study the structure and function of spontaneous network activity during neural circuit formation.
