The 12th Annual Deep Brain Stimulation Think Tank Meeting and Rising Stars Challenge

Nearly 100 world experts will convene to discuss cutting edge research, technologies, and neuroethical issues within the field of neuromodulation.

Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is a neurosurgical procedure that involves implanting tiny probes into specific areas of the brain to treat different disorders and diseases, including epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease. Since its initial approval in the late 1990’s, DBS has expanded in scope to treat additional neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders, such as depression, stroke and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)

Two upcoming events aim to highlight some of these accomplishments and the challenges still facing the field:

First, the virtual DBS Think Tank Rising Star Junior Investigator Challenge webinar will take place on August 14, 2024, at 1pm ET. This challenge is designed to recognize and support the exceptional work of early-career scientist within the DBS field. DBS Zoom registration is still open. Read more about the DBS Think Tank Rising Stars Challenge eligibility on the event website.

Second, the 12th annual DBS Think Tank Meeting will take place on August 21-23, 2024. This year’s theme is “emerging indications and novel applications of DBS.” This meeting provides an open platform for clinicians, engineers, and researchers (from both industry and academia) to freely discuss current and emerging DBS technology. DBS Think Tank XII Zoom registration is now open.
