Dear BRAIN Community,

First and foremost, we hope everyone is safe and healthy during this declared public health emergency. We know you are dealing with major disruptions to your research in addition to the many other stressful ramifications of the coronavirus outbreak, and we want to assure you that NIH is working to provide you as many flexibilities as we can to manage this difficult situation. We recognize that there are many frustrating levels of uncertainty right now, including questions and concerns regarding the 2020 BRAIN Initiative Investigators Meeting, scheduled for June 1-3. We want to let you know that we have made the difficult decision to cancel the in-person June meeting. We are tracking the evolving situation, and we are exploring alternatives, such as converting to a virtual meeting in June and/or postponing the in-person meeting to a later date. We will provide an official update on the status of the meeting by April 3rd, if not prior. We will also make sure all updates are reflected on the BRAIN and meeting websites.

We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause, and we thank you for your patience.

We also want to encourage you to visit the NIH website on Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19): Information for NIH Applicants and Recipients. This website has a list of available resources for applicants and grantees and will be updated frequently as the situation continues to evolve.

Sincerely,
Walter Koroshetz, M.D., Director, NINDS
Joshua Gordon, M.D., Ph.D., Director, NIMH
John Ngai, Ph.D., Director Designee, NIH BRAIN Initiative
