The BRAIN Initiative® launched an essay and video contest for high school students in March called the BRAIN Initiative Challenge. Winners and honorable mentions will be announced and highlighted at the upcoming BRAIN Initiative meeting.
Please join us at the 8th Annual BRAIN Initiative Meeting: Open Science, New Tools on Tuesday, June 21 at 12:30 p.m. EDT to meet the winners of the BRAIN Initiative Challenge: Ethical Considerations of BRAIN Technologies, the second annual federal challenge opportunity for high school students! The challenge asked students to discuss the ethical implications of emerging brain technologies being developed to understand the brain and treat brain disorders.
This year’s winners and honorable mentions, selected from a pool of many talented, current high school students, will attend the meeting to showcase a segment of their winning essays or videos and share key takeaways with the audience. Drs. John Ngai, Director of the NIH BRAIN Initiative, Walter Koroshetz, Director of the National Institute and Neurological Disorders and Stroke, Debara Tucci, Director of the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, and Richard Hodes, Director of the National Institute on Aging, will also be in attendance to announce the winners and honorable mentions.
