Have you read the latest BRAIN Initiative Alliance newsletter? BRAIN scientists are invited to share their tools with the scientific community in the Toolmakers Newsletter. These newsletters spotlight BRAIN Initiative investigators with tools, technologies, or theories ready for distribution to the research community to advance neurotechnology.
The BRAIN Initiative Alliance (BIA) released its first Toolmakers Newsletter of 2023! This issue showcases four neuroscience tools and methods to highlight the goals of the research teams behind them and their latest advancements:
-
The Two-photon Spectrometer by Dr. Mikhail Drobizhev, a resource that helps characterize two-photon absorption properties by defining multiphoton molecular parameters such as quantum yields and absorption cross sections.
-
Soft Multifunctional Neural Probes by Dr. Siyuan Rao, a toolset of neural probes that are helping optogenetics research through their biocompatible and flexible mechanical properties.
-
The Distributed Archives for Neurophysiology Data Integration (DANDI), by Dr. Satrajit Ghosh, an archive that provides a standardized data sharing platform for researchers to search and publish large datasets.
-
Mononucleotide Repeat Frameshift (MORF) Genetic Sparse Cell Labeling by Dr. X. William Yang, a scalable method for sparse labeling and imaging the morphology of genetically defined neurons in mice.
