The Concept to Clinic: Commercializing Innovation Education Program is designed to help current BRAIN-funded investigators from a research institution or early-stage start-up better understand how to take their innovative technology and apply it to an unmet market need.
The NIH BRAIN Initiative is providing an opportunity for grantees to participate in the Concept to Clinic: Commercializing Innovation (C3i) Education (eC3i) Program, a 10-week online entrepreneurial education program with one-on-one mentoring from seasoned biotech entrepreneurs. The program is aimed at teaching academic innovators methods to assess the commercial value of their biomedical technologies and includes:
-
Online curriculum with a self-paced virtual training course
-
Approximately 20 hours of personalized mentoring with the team’s assigned Business Advisor and Project Manager
-
Stakeholder interviews to assess the value proposition of the technology
-
Several team presentations throughout the course to gain feedback from a larger audience of Business Advisors
-
Final "Pitch Presentation" focusing on the target customer and the value proposition of the technology
To be eligible to participate, you must have a BRAIN-funded grant award that is active or in a No-Cost Extension through September 2022. For full program and eligibility details, please visit the eC3i website.
