The new Notice of Change extends the current application due dates period and updates applicants’ eligibility regarding the previous Notice of Special Interest (NOSI) to facilitate dissemination efforts from BRAIN Initiative-funded researchers.
The NIH BRAIN Initiative aims to revolutionize human understanding of the brain and effectively share these next-generation technologies and resources with others. In addition, the BRAIN Initiative facilitates breakthrough discoveries in neuroscience research through the rapid dissemination of resources to the research community.
This Notice of Change, NOT-NS-22-082, amends the application periods and eligibility criteria for a previously announced NOSI that aims to accelerate the scientific impact of the BRAIN Initiative through supporting small dissemination efforts (NOT-NS-21-014). The changes, including clarification of eligibility criteria, are indicated below:
-
The efforts proposed in the supplement applications may extend beyond the competitive segment of the active parent award by up to 12 months (see NOT-NS-22-082 for further details on request and approval of extension)
-
This supplement is for a small dissemination experience of promising technologies or resources. Broader dissemination efforts of well-proven technologies or resources may be more appropriate for RFA-NS-22-011.

March 15, 2022 – May 31, 2022
