NIH will host an informational workshop on The BRAIN Initiative® Program at the Association for Chemoreception Sciences annual conference

The National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), one of the participating institutes in the NIH BRAIN Initiative, will host an informative workshop on BRAIN funding opportunities for prospective NIDCD applicants. The event will take place on April 20, 2023, 1:30-3:00 PM ET.  

The Association for Chemoreception Sciences (AChemS) is a scientific research organization dedicated to understanding the "chemical senses" of smell, taste, trigeminal irritation, and internal chemoreception from the fundamentals of neurobiology to complex behavior. The AChemS will host their annual meeting on April 19-22, 2023, to discuss recent discoveries and facilitate collaboration between scientists in the chemical senses field.  

The National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), one of 10 Institutes and Centers at the National Institutes of Health that make up the NIH BRAIN Initiative, is organizing a workshop at AChemS’s annual conference called  “Demystifying The Brain Initiative® Program: Guidance To Potential NIDCD Applicants" on April 20, 2023, to share information about the NIH BRAIN Initiative program. The event is led by Dr. Merav Sabri, the NIDCD program director, to provide an overview of various funding opportunities and guide potential NIDCD applicants. 

Dr. John Ngai, the NIH BRAIN Initiative Director, will open the session with an introduction, followed by Dr. Merav Sabri's presentation on NIDCD's relevant activities to the program. Next, BRAIN-supported researchers, including Drs. Emily Gibson (University of Colorado Denver), Arianna Maffei (Stony Brook University), and Thomas Bozza (Northwestern University), will give presentations on BRAIN-funded proposals. A Q&A session will follow the presentations.
