There are several exciting BRAIN Initiative happenings at the Society for Neuroscience’s annual conference, which begins tomorrow at the McCormick Place Convention Center (Chicago, Illinois). On Saturday, October 19th from 1:30pm-4:00pm (CST; Room: S406A), there will be a mini-symposium, “BRAIN Initiative: Cutting-Edge Tools and Resources for the Community,” chaired by Dr. Walter Koroshetz, NINDS Director. Speakers include BRAIN-funded investigators: Jeff Lichtman, Alison Barth, Loren Frank, Kristen Harris, Kathleen Gates, and James Trimmer.

The annual BRAIN Initiative Alliance Networking Event will occur on Sunday, October 20th, from 6:30pm-8:30pm (CST) at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place (Regency Ballroom CDE). This open event, “Tools & Tech: A BRAIN Initiative Alliance Social,” will feature some of the leading toolmakers funded by the U.S. BRAIN Initiative. Through the BRAIN Initiative, a broad array of neuroscience technology and resources – including software, electrophysiological/probes, optics/microscopy, molecular/cellular, chemical/small molecules, and other hardware tools – are becoming available to the research community.
