A series of 14 virtual listening sessions from December 1, 2021 through February 1, 2022 organized by the National Institute of Health’s UNITE Initiative to listen and learn from key stakeholders at all levels of the biomedical research community.
The NIH UNITE Initiative was established to identify and address structural racism within the NIH-supported and broader scientific community. UNITE aims to establish an equitable and civil culture within the biomedical research enterprise and reduce barriers to racial and ethnic equity in the biomedical research workforce.
The NIH BRAIN Initiative is firmly committed to fostering diversity and inclusivity in the research community, and the BRAIN community may be interested in a series of upcoming UNITE listening sessions. Beginning today, the UNITE Initiative will host a series of virtual sessions, each lasting an hour and a half, as part of their efforts to listen and learn from the experiences and insights of stakeholders at all levels of the biomedical research community. These discussions will aim to shed light on the full range of issues and challenges facing diverse talent within the scientific and administrative workforce, which in turn will help develop priorities and an action plan.
Please find the schedule of listening sessions here and register for one or more sessions that best align with your affiliation. Dedicated sessions over the next few months encompass a broad range of stakeholders and will hear from those affiliated with colleges and universities, minority-serving institutions, tribal communities, faith-based organizations, students, trainees, and research staff, among others.
