Beginning tomorrow, the 7th Annual BRAIN Initiative Investigators Meeting will bring together BRAIN Initiative awardees, staff, leadership from participating federal agencies, the public, and others to share exciting scientific discoveries and new directions for BRAIN.
The three-day virtual event will include daily plenary talks, symposia sessions, research highlight talks, and over 600 posters! During these sessions, attendees will hear about the latest findings in BRAIN-related neuroscience research and tool development. Topics include recent work on vocal learning and language, the ethics of gene editing, novel brain stimulation devices, progress in building a human brain cell type atlas, approaches in computational psychiatry, novel receptors for precision control of neural circuits, research on the olfactory system, the diversity of the social brain, and much more.

The meeting will also feature trainee highlight awardee “flash talk” sessions, a science communications workshop, a session on engaging the next generation in STEM, and a dialogue on strategies to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion in neuroscience and daily life. On the second day, we will announce the winners of the 2021 Show Us Your BRAINs! Photo & Video Contest. Lastly, we’re hosting a pre-meeting neuroethics session on June 14 focused on improving neuroethics engagement among writers, neuroethicists, and scientists across academia and industry.
