Dr. Tahra Eissa is a postdoctoral research associate in computational neuroscience at University of Colorado Boulder. She completed her undergraduate degree in bioengineering at Cornell University and her PhD in neurobiology at University of Chicago where she studied the dynamics of seizures. Applying a diverse set of tools that combine theory with advanced data analytic techniques of human behavioral responses and human neural recordings, her current work focuses on the diversity of decision strategies that humans use to match our environment, the errors and limitations of our cognitive processes, and the corresponding brain mechanisms that underlie these behaviors. Through her BRAIN Initiative project, she will investigate the cognitive and neural mechanisms that allow for flexibility in our decision-making strategies. This work will help our understanding of the strategies humans apply to decision-making in different environments, how these strategies are implemented by the brain, and how neurological disorders disrupt behavior and brain processes.
