On August 23, 2022, the BRAIN Initiative Neuroethics Working Group (NEWG) held its 14th meeting. The NEWG ensures that neuroethics is fully integrated into the BRAIN Initiative as new tools and technologies emerge.

Dr. Kate MacDuffie is an F32 award recipient whose research focuses on the neuroethical use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to predict autism spectrum disorder in infancy. The F32 funding opportunity supports the research training of promising researchers early in their postdoctoral training period.
The centers will be created through a new notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) that is part of a family of NOFOs supporting the BRAIN Initiative Armamentarium transformative project. This NOFO is anticipated to be published in December 2022 with an expected application due date in June 2023 and an earliest start date in April 2024

Neuroethics Working Group Meeting – Tuesday, August 23, 2022
The purpose of the annual, open BRAIN Initiative meeting is to continue to build the BRAIN community and provide a forum for discussing exciting scientific developments and potential new directions; and to identify areas for collaboration and research coordination.
NINDS is inviting public input on the challenges and opportunities for supporting and enhancing research in fundamental neuroscience. The deadline for submission of input through a Request for Information is September 1.
